What is a warrior spirit and what constitutes heroism? Who receives these honours?
I met a hero. Small and runtish. The quiet type, who you would miss had they not been right under your very feet. Stalwart too; almost righteously so.
Our hero survived for 13 hours before surcumbing to the harsh environment. The last breaths coming hard and deep like a battle that raged until its violent and bitter end.
Harper was a 6 week old raccoon. He got caught in behind a water heater, boldly escaped and then surcame to wilderness. Today he was put to rest in the way of his people. The viking way. Put out to the waters to be witnessed by his warrior gods and then set alight. His flame will burn eternal in our hearts and in the stars of Valhalla.
Goodbye, Harper. I’m sorry I didn’t see you sooner.
